More memes. Because, you know, it's not like they're going to fire me for doing this at work.
Damn, I've been to a lot of states. And people think I don't know what I'm talking about when I say I don't like the Midwest.

This one's more boring. I lived in Tanzania's Serengeti National Park as a kid, because my dad was a grad student in wildlife ecology, and I put Liberia down on the basis of a refueling layover stop in Monrovia on the way to and from Nairobi, Kenya on either side of that trip, because otherwise my map looked even more bland.

My home phone is 972-447-9995 if there's anything that you need or want to tell me that can't wait for up to a few days - I'll be home, er .. sometime after 6:30 Central time? And have to try to get to bed by 10 for the next month-ish, because I have to get up at *gack* 5:30 AM for a 1-1.5 hour commute to work until I'm in the new apartment. (I live in Dallas. New job in Fort Worth. One big sprawling metroplex, but my apartment and the university I'm working at are about 50 miles apart, through the heart of a lot of traffic. The apartment I settled on last night is only 14 miles from the university. And is over a third again as large as my current apt for only $15/month more. :D)
I am hopeful to get the computer fixed this week - the listmind on the mailing list I'm on is slowly starting to concur that it might be the power supply, though there's a few hardcases holding out for processor heatsink or hard drive problems. At any rate, I'll just be replacing various components and seeing if it starts working. (Tonight's plan: install Win2K on the new HD and see if booting from that one works.)

Since I'm in a Camden property, if I transfer to another I don't have to pay the fee to break my lease, and I can give them 30 days' notice, *and* since I qualify as a long-term resident, they waive the transfer fee. I qualify for a decent rent *and* for a special where they move me for $1. w00t!

As far as travel: wow. :) I spent a semester in Wales in 1991, and have travled into Scotland and several palces in England since (spent last August on an internship in Shropshire, actually). But of course, if you go to a place you don't live, you *usually* try to travel as much as possible, so it's not really surprising that I've been to as many places in the UK as I've been. Er. If that makes sense. (Edinburgh's my favorite of all the places I've been, I think.)
