Collating Saiyuki

OK, as a procrastination thing, I'm currently attempting to collate where the Saiyuki anime and manga coincide and diverge. I haven't gotten too far yet because I'm too lazy to go to the other side of the room and get my Saiyuki books as well as I don't have a good episode guide to the anime handy, so I can't figure out what's what easily.

I've taken the episode titles from the Anime News Network, where they let just about anyone log in and make changes, so I'm not sure how faithful or official the translations are.

Feel free to make notes in the comments and I'll add them. Just, no spoilers please. :D

Saiyuki Manga

Gensomaden Saiyuki (published by Tokyopop as Saiyuki) - 9 volumes, finished.

Saiyuki Reload - 2 volumes published by Tokyopop, 5 published in Japan, ongoing. More of a continuation of the first series and not a sequel - the manga switched publishers and was renamed, I believe.

Saiyuki Gaiden - unpublished in US, 2 volumes in Japan, ongoing. Concerns events of 500 years previous to the other two series, involving previous incarnations of the main characters, which set off the trail of events leading to the other two series.

I just want to say this work is *awesome in Goku's tone*....

I just finished the whole anime, and the whole manga of Saiyuki. Now I'm suffering serious withdrawal symptons....

I've got to get me those anime of Reloaded...

XD The movie Requiem is out, and it's basically an extended filler episode, not in the manga at all, so you can easily watch it. And I think they're just starting to release Reload now. :D

Oh well, I was doing some searching with the help of your other great collating Saiyuki post:

Quick question. I'm safe to assume that Reload Gunlock is the continuation of Reload? (I'm talking in terms of anime). It's seems Reload Gunlock is 26 episodes, and Reload has 25 episodes. Have those volumes of Gunlock been released?

I searched Amazon, and there are already on sale some Volumes of Reload (Up to Volume 6). It's expensive to buy "by Volume" than buying the whole box-set like I did with Saiyuki (Gensou Maden). I guess I will wait.

Gunlock has not been released over here, although it has in Japan. Currently the only way to get Gunlock is through HK bootleg subtitled versions - I can't see any Gunlock torrents on AnimeSuki and there used to be, so I assume that it's been licensed.

Not sure what you mean about Gunlock being the continuation of Reload - Reload does come to the end of a story arc. If you consider Reload being a continuation of Gensomaden, then Gunlock is a continuation of Reload. :) Just think of them all together as four seasons of Saiyuki, and that pretty much works out.
