For the first time...

...since I've moved in, the kitchen is clean, neat, and utterly put away! OK, well, I haven't swept or mopped the floor yet, and I've got a bag of stuff that includes some kitchen stuff thanks to a gift card for Bed Bath & Beyond from Mom* that's sitting on the living room foor and needs to be emptied, but for now ... man, it's beautiful!

Every single other room in the apartment is utterly trashed, since I do large reorganization projects by throwing everything in the middle of the floor and cleaning from there, but it's certianly a start.

* We are both addicted to buying kitchen and other type of stuff like this. It's like office and organization supplies or the perfect hair-care product: if you just manage to get the right thing, your life will come together, you'll be more popular, taller, and will be able to speak French. It's just a quirk. :D

Moving in with C. has seriously cramped my kitchen fetish but next saturday we're going to try to get out to this kitchen outlet that only sells to the public once a week (otherwise it is for restaurants and such) and see about picking up some fun things! *makes a huge list of things she wants*

Sooo... what did you pick up? *snoops in your bag* *looks cute when she's caught*

Let's see if I can remember - a sink strainer to put in the other half of the double sink since stuff keeps getting washed down that drain no matter how ahrd I try. A wooden turner which is not like the old, venerable one Mom has used for years which she won't let me steal! but is closer than anything else I've found so far. A salt mill and pepper mill set - most of the sets I've seen have just a shaker for the salt, and I want a mill, too! A cute mini-Cuisinart. A jar opener, since I have a bottle of Diet Dr Pepper in my fridge right now that has actually injured me as I try to open it. An 8" sauce pan, and a 5-quart chili pot. Not that I make chili on a regular basis, but I wanted something midway between my 2-quart pot and my stockpot. Non-kitchen, but two pillows and a set of folding shelves for DVDs. Probably some othr things as well, but I don't remember anything else.

See, I didn't think I was the only one that reorganized like that. Nick is always appalled when he comes home in the middle of one of my projects and finds the entire house a wreck (while I'm cleaning "just" the closet). Sometimes you just have to mess up everything at once.

We're also addicted to the organizational & kitchen stuff. We got a little extra cash, Nick spent his all on a Lodge enamel blue Dutch oven. My money? Office supplies.

It's the only way I can reorganize - I just don't do things by halves, and it's all got to come out and be thrown on the floor, or my bed, or the sofa, or something. :D

I know one day I will purchase the One True Kitchen Supply and all my personal and financial problems will be solved. :)
