I have a friend who's gotten into making his own soap, who sent me photos of his recent batch, part of which did not go so well.

The orange-juice colored stuff is sandalwood, and it's fine. The other stuff is cucmber-melon scented, but ... looks like SPAM, due to colorings from two different vendors mixing poorly under heat. He's all "I can't give this to anyone!" So now I turn to you, O my weird faithful readers: what does one do with 38 bars of SPAM-colored soap?

I clicked the cut before reading anything. And was wondering why you posted a picture of artificial meat and cheese...

Your own damn fault, then! XD

I'm totally serious about that suggestion, which comes from [livejournal.com profile] spazzkat commenting over my shoulder. You just have to be careful not to use the actual word "SPAM." (And in case you don't know, this is Archie McPhee. They're local to me, anyway. ^_^ )

:D I'll pass the idea on.

Cucumber melon happens to be one of my favorite flavo scents. I'd be amused to have meat-colored soap that smells fruity.

Hee - he was all "What the FUCK am I going to do with this? Nobody will want to wash their hands with it!" He obviously doesn't have the right friends. XD

[identity profile] the-z.livejournal.com 2005-12-09 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly! He just has to know to whom to market!

Yeah, me three. I'd take some of that off his hands, although doing Sanzo is always a tempting option. ;-)

That's why they're ticky boxes!

I love [livejournal.com profile] fourthage's suggestion. If he can figure out how to make soap that looks like sandwich buns, and maybe some that looks like tomatoes and lettuce, I suspect he'd have a real money-maker on his hands!

[identity profile] fourthage.livejournal.com 2005-12-09 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I like my suggestion too. I've seen sets like that at the local craft fairs, and they sell disturbingly fast.

Actually, I've actually had (and used, and enjoyed) various brands of sandalwood-scented soap that was a colour fairly close to the SPAM-like stuff, so my brain keeps wanting to transpose them and ask what's the problem?

Actually, I actually got far too little sleep last night and I actually should be in bed. Actually. *facepalm*
