I herewith raise my hand to declare that the reason I'm not going to see Brokeback Mountain is that it sounds gawdawful boring.

Then again, 90% of movies in general sound gawdawful boring to me.

My initial reaction was, "Gay rodeo story? I dunno. True, it's directed by Ang Lee, but without additional information, it's not catching my interest." Then I saw a preview. Now I'm interested.

Oh yeah. Heath Ledger struck me as a potential minus, but I guess I haven't seen much of him. Besides with preview, which revealed Michelle Williams is in the movie (I like her), Ebert and Roeper liked it. While I don't trust their opinions, I'm always happy to use their agreement with my opinions or hopes for a movie as supporting evidence that I am right.

It looks like a movie I'd watch on DVD, but I wouldn't pay $10 to see it in the theatre.

If I understand it properly, they fall in love, live apart unhappily except for the occasional get-together, make their wives unhappy, and grow old.

Yeah, I'm all over *that*.

Yup, I just don't like that sort of thing. The genders of the protagonists matter not one whit to me.

I'd love to watch the first part of it and then flee the theater before the angsty tragic doom starts.

Me too. I liked the short story but it's way too sad for me!

I read the shortstory that it was based on ages ago. It was dry at best. I still want to see it, though.

I actually loved the story, more than anything else she's written-- it stuck with me. So I'll watch it at some point.

...I have been warned it may make me cry.
I avoid movies that may make me cry.
I want to laugh or get pumped up at a movie!

Here's the story as a pdf (http://s49.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2RBSCT0B3EU4313P2J4Z6RIZ43). I liked it, but YMMV.

Eh. Not my thing. Oh well. :)

Joining you.

I'd watch it for the hopefully hot mansex, but as most Ang Lee films are to me, I'd most likely get bored and fall asleep during it.

I loved the story, so I'm definitely going to see it. Plus it's Heath and Jake. Kissing.

Well, the short story was boring as dirt. So the movie probably is too.
