Via [livejournal.com profile] rilina: Go to your Calendar and find the first entry for each month of 2005. Post the first line of it in your journal, and that's your 'Year In Review'.

I stuck it all in one paragraph because I think it's more amusing to read it as one entry.

At the grocery store deli counter today, I found myself musing, as I often do (really!) that it would be possible to make a manga with characters named after various types of exotic cold cuts. OMG I'm posting the pencils?? Porco Rosso, The Cat Returns, and the non-butchered version of Nausicca are all out on DVD now. [livejournal.com profile] mundeemo, why is it that I can actually picture [livejournal.com profile] bitpig wearing this? Can some fine feathered friend out there who's got the translations of the Naruto manga chapters 255-257 pleeeeeese yousendit or something to me? Back from A-Kon. It's time for another "So, who are you and why are you here?" roundup on my friendlist, because it's been a while since I posted the last one and there's been a small influx of new people. Two pages inked today. Called Mom and talked to her. At the Ref desk again, all day today, thus poking about online. As the November issue of Tokyopop's Manga Online (neƩ Takuhai) has gone live as of today, I shall make the official announcement: an edited version of my two essays on visual flow in manga has been posted as Manga Online's How-To of the Month. [livejournal.com profile] rachelmanija and [livejournal.com profile] kate_nepveu are reading The Tale of Genji by Murasaki Shikibu and I am a sheep baa.

I'm reposting the January 1st message here, just 'cause the other day I was in the grocery store at the deli counter and thinking this exact same thing again. XD

Can't you just see it? The antagonist would be the fearsome and mysterious Dr. Mortadella and his dangerously seductive assistant, Galantina, while the hero, Capocollo, would be torn between the glamorous and beautiful Lady Bianca d'Oro and the spunky yet charming Sopressata. The roles of the Short Wacky Sidekicks would be filled admirably by Prosciutto Piccolo and Ham Cappy. Various mentors, allies, and rivals would be Pancetta, Basturma, Coppa, Csabai, and Krakauer, not to mention the Wurst brothers Bierwurst, Gelbwurst, Jagdwurst, Plockwurst, Schinkenwurst, and their sister Teawurst.

I think I've hit on a winner here.
