Fridge pics!

The new fridge was delivered! And they forgot to bring the water line that they insisted we purchase if we wanted them to install it! So they installed it with the old water line, and after work we dropped by Lowe's and got the one we bought, and

myrialux got all handy and installed it. The fridge is cooling down now, the water dispenser works, and tomorrow we should be able to empty the coolers! Wheee!

Yes, it sticks out quite a lot. So did our old fridge. The space is made for a counter-depth fridge, which we owned for a hot minute ten years ago until the icemaker broke 3 times in 90 days and prompted them to give us full credit for the fridge, so we used it to buy a new one that was NOT counter depth because we liked being able to put more than three things into the fridge at one time.

You can see how close the island is to the fridge. But LOOK! You can open the freezer WHILE STANDING IN FRONT! We couldn't do that with the old fridge.

I'm living vicariously through your new fridge because my landlord is too cheap to replace the one we have, which hasn't had a working interior light for years and currently also has water dripping down into the refrigerator section from the freezer.

Yikes! In our rental house the fridge--which had a pool of congealed butter on the floor under the crisper drawer dating from before us that we weren't about to clear out since the landlord left it that way (and we didn't discover for months because we never removed the crisper drawer)--died twice in two years, heralded by a sickly-sweet smell that permeated the house. The landlord would only fix it, not replace it, because somehow $200 to fix the fridge every year is cheaper than just paying $1000 for a fridge that would last at least 10 years?? I think they were hoping we'd just buy a fridge, but at the time we hadn't decided to buy a house yet, and we didn't want to buy one that would have to be stored if we moved to another place that supplied a fridge.
