OK, it's Rembrandt as a space marine, but he did do a hell of a lot of self-portraits.

I must be doing something wrong - I joined up, I got my channel assignment, I used the /imagine prompt, but I never got any images generated.

It took me a while to figure out that what I had to do was:

--type /imagine
--add a space after /imagine
--click on "prompt" in the little command menu that pops up
--click in the space after the "prompt:" that gets added after /imagine
--type in my prompt

And then sometimes when I hit Enter, it just opens another prompt thingy and I have to hit Enter again a couple more times to get it to take.

If you're doing all that, I expect that it might be the server being hammered--I ran into that a couple of times, when my prompt would show up properly, but the channel didn't respond.

They don’t tell you to, and it took a lot of experimenting to figure out I had to.

But I could see other people doing the same thing in the channel, so it made me feel slightly better that I didn’t know what to do!

Got it to work! Alas, the AI didn't quite grasp how to parse "mermaid underwater with peacock feathers for scales" and gave me really weird peamaids instead. :D

Hahaha, yeah! It takes experimenting to pull good stuff out of it. XD If you drop in "artstation" you get some painterly stuff, "unreal engine" pushes it a little smoother, artist names give you things vaguely in the style, or at least the colorway, of a particular artist.

Yeah, I feel very AAARGGHHH that I can't draw and paint better because I see these as great concepting tools and I want want want to do the full painting that's lurking just beneath the surface and I CAAAAAAAAAAN'T
