It's been not the best of days for reasons I've posted under lock, but before I leap into posting a bunch of text generated by an AI from the past three years of my blog posts, here's a cute thing about rats:

New York Times article about scientists in Australia tickling rats every day for a month to see if it improves their emotional well-being. And would you like to become a professional rat-tickler yourself? You're on your own when it comes to finding someone to pay you to do it, but you can take an online course in and receive a certificate in rat-tickling to help you in your quest.

On to the randomly generated blog posts!

The AI discovered my penchant for posting randomly-generated book titles and has randomly generated quite a lot of book titles for me to post. AI-CEPTION. I'd adise checking that none of them are real before swiping them: since the AI generates these by working out the probability of what words will appear next, if it's fed with book titles, it has a tendency to produce book titles.

Here are the highlights of the book titles:

I have a recipe for pie crust for you:
Pie crust made of a few ingredients:

1.5kg (about 1/2-3/4 lb) white flour
1 cup (120g) chopped unsweetened whole wheat flour
1/3 cup (120ml) chopped unsweetened granulated sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup (120ml) chopped unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp folic acid
1/2 tsp vanilla
Preheat oven to 350°F. Generously oil a 9-inch square or round baking pan and oil it with a little water.

In a medium bowl, sift the dry ingredients together. In another bowl, stir all the liquid ingredients EXCEPT the vinegar together. Pour the liquid into the dry ingredients and mix until well blended and smooth.

Add the wet ingredients and stir briefly; the consistency of a well-drained bowl will depend on the size of bowl.

Pour the batter into the pan and spread evenly. Bake until a cake tester inserted in the middle comes out clean, 30-35 minutes. Cool in the pan on a rack for 10 minutes

I have RULES, apparently. And am deeply concerned with whether or not you're an employee of a CSA. URLs were all gibberish so I removed them and the links go nowhere.
New rule! privacy!

(d) Are you a shareholder of Glorious Craft?
(e) Are you a public employee or a public employee for a public company?

(i) Are you a CSA employee?
(ii) Are you a CSA employee?
(iii) Are you a CSA employee in your area?
(iv) Are you a CSA employee in your area?

Other random quotes.
If you read my other post about bad fiction, you'll know that I'm a huge fan of Gene Wolfe's The October Man Trilogy. It's a lot like The October Man, except that the covers are significantly more boring to look at and remember.

(Re: that Morgue ad went up because I managed to get stuck in the straight-talking, college-age audience that [personal profile] myrialux is usually shoving most of the time.)

There's also the male character generator [link to non-existent post on [personal profile] rachelmanija's DW removed] post-mortem on r/DangerousToKnow about which makes a lot of sense--an alpaca needs a home outside if he's interested in exploring a more human world. (I am) And [personal profile] myrialux is also doing some work on the generator, to see if anyone can help with it.

We shall see what happens to the piggy bank when the Wild Bunch gets its way. Until then, they're happily ever after.

I can seriously recommend all the artists I know who make braided lines and overdo it in Photoshop.

It has seen my tendency to post images and caption and helpfully generated a lot of those for me. I have removed all the image links because, again, it made them up so they go nowhere.
Yup. And instead of actually feeding the fish, we're going to use foie gras to make ice cream.

The penguin in the window is salivating at us, and sniffing the air in our direction.
[non-existent image]

The firefighter at the bar is also disgruntled, and is approaching the edge of his vinegar.
[non-existent image]

The male cat is also disgruntled, and is balking at the idea of leaving its pug, Nefer, alone for more than an hour at a time.
[non-existent image]

The female cat, she is equally disgruntled, and is actively trying to ramble, "LET'S THE FUEL INTO THE DRILL!!"

The video starts with the female puffin sitting on a cardboard box, then cuts to the male puffin sitting behind a large icicle.

Part of me suspects people were just not paying enough attention.

This is what I was THINKING when I posted.

First picture of 3 girls...the middle one has a giraffe in it, the other a monk boy.

Third picture of the 3, holding my, er, f-stop...

It's fond of Q&A formats as well, which I didn't think I was that fond of, so I guess someting in the post text I trained it on is triggering the AI to pull that from the Internet texts it was originally trained on.
How many drinks have you had?

One. I rarely drink, if ever I am in their hands. I rarely drink, if ever I am in their hands. I'm usually in the habit, if they're in the mood, of asking for something like a glass of red Bull's Red, or a glass of white Bull's. I've had none.

Why young people go to the trouble of planning events and planning ahead?

Because they make life difficult and if you are stressed out you'll miss them the longer you're in the room.

Occasionally it talks about our cat D. Va. Again, nonexistent link removed.
And in case you're not already a gamer and are just now discovering Megaman, D.Va, Knight | Character Generator, the most recent character from the Atom Gods mold is D.Va.

Dec 17th
D.Va playing Gloombringer with another D.Va. :/

And just to show you what sort of werid-ass URLs it produces, here's one:
If you haven't read this article, you should be quite

It discovered the couple of posts I used to interview Tarot decks and decided to interview a Tarot deck about the cats.
1. If you have a cat, what kind?

A litterbox cat.
1. What is your take on steaming water?

A mug of steaming water.

2. What is the potential outcome of our working relationship?

A disgruntled, disgruntled, disgruntled, disgruntled, disgruntled! Everyone gets along great when they're angry, but when they're creative and take sides, it can get nasty.

3. What is the potential outcome of our working relationship?

A giant electrical fence around our bathroom.

4. How old is the cat?

She's got a blanket on her side, but we don't want to give up that she'll have to play with them somehow.

5. How old is the cat? (We have a cat feeding schedule this weekend, during which time she should be showing signs of life, so we're not giving her the benefit of the doubt the most part.)

She should be showing signs of life Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We have a vet appointment for her on Monday, but nothing's happened for the past week. We should be able to have baby cherries tomorrow, get ahold of a bouquet and put it into the mail, but no offer.

I sat on the cat for the past week and he was my primary source of entertainment. While I'm not a fan of blindingly obvious companions, they tend to end up being the primary companions because the narrator is so focused on them.

Note: I have not sat on the cat.

Sometimes it just ALLCAPS at you for no reason. Much like I do, I suppose.
PIGS

I BELIEVE.

PHOTO GAMES

Here is some art advice.
In case anyone but me and [personal profile] yhlee are tired of waiting in lines and hoisting pencils over your head:

* First-person perspective only. You need to be standing facing the camera (face down) to use the full canvas option.

* Perspective off-center. To be fair, I don't have any invisible observers above my head, so standing still and looking directly into someone's face doesn't work well for me.

* Object perspective. Perspective off-center. You don't really want to when you're standing behind someone, because they're casting shadows on you. (I was standing facing them while drawing faces, so no point of view.)

SPEAKING of cats...
I have grave concern about a pest that was once there--it was a pest that turned up dead cats, obviously--and thus my last post. The cats were never found, although my previous habit was to go watch the cats die and take care that they weren't in danger of getting caught in the rubble.

I would like to state for the record that that was never a habit of mine, nor is it now.

[personal profile] rachelmanija is apparently hosting an online creativity course. (Nonexistent URLs removed as usual.)
We'll be having a three-day online course on Friday, August 5, starting at 7PM, at rachelmanija.dreamwidth.org. I expect there will be plenty of writing material, craft projects, and all things engaging. :)

No idea when or where this will be streamed. I expect the most of the class time is the ones that have the most footage, as it is live in the main materials folder. Or if they're just sitting around waiting for the instructor to drop everything...

This stream is for all videos and photos of the writing, illustration, or composition of any fiction.

And to end for now...
I have no idea why the hell I had 3 of these in the pantry. I think it's the 2.0"inpratchett" thing that got [personal profile] myrialux into trouble the first time around, or some such.

The first one was brought to my attention by a couple of disgruntled package collectors. Given that these are purchased and maintained by both my institution and the disgruntled package collector, I shall assume that their incomes are proportionate. If so, I shall slack off a bit, since the latter has significantly more money on him than I do, but I'm not too shabby a job.

[personal profile] yhlee sent me the text of his hexarchate novels, which I have also trained an AI on, and shall be posting excerpts from later.
