A way to get some nifty stuff out of Artbreeder
First, find a picture on Pixabay that Artbreeder just Cannot Cope with. A person with a hat is good, as well as a face in 3/4 profile. Bonus if there's some really good facial hair going on. I think it works best if there's good light and a variety of colors.
Like this.

You then go to Create -> Upload, upload it, and wait a good long time in the queue before it gets processed. You can go do other things and come back to it, or even close the browser window. It'll be in your account when you get back.
It should look like nothing on the face of this planet, like so:

This is because (I think) the post-processing Artbreeder does is expecting a full-on face not wearing a hat.
You then click on that picture, and then "Children" in the menu across the top, which takes you to a page that looks like this:

If you see a picture you like in the three presented to you, click on it to save it. It'll get put down at the bottom and be replaced by a new one when you do that. Keep hitting the icon of the two arrows and playing with the slider to see what-all you can get.
You'll probably find a decent amount of fabulous stuff like these, many of which appear to be louche Transylvanian aristocrats, on their way to turning into Norman Reedus:

You can then click on any of those and either do the same, or go into the Edit-Genes screen and mess with them, changing the width, height, pitch, yaw, and a bunch of the genes I showed you earlier.
Have fun!
What happens if you upload something nonhuman??
Meet this cat. This cat is named Ochre, because that's what the color of its eyes reminded
myrialux of. Ochre's not my cat, it's from Pixabay.

This is Ochre after Artbreeder has got its claws into him.

These are Ochre's children. The further the slider is pushed to the right, the more realistic they get.

I then took the image in the center row on the far right, because I liked that it looked like a mid-century ad for Hawai'i, and messed about with her in both the Edit-Genes and Children interfaces, and got these.

Neat, huh? And showing way more personality overall than the general run of Artbreeder stuff you get, although I notice Artbreeder's tendency to show a long nose and Cupid's-bow mouth popping in.
"But," I hear you say. "What if you upload a somewhat dark picture of a dude with a fabulous hat who is looking directly at the 'camera'?"
I HAVE GOT YOU COVERED.
A few days ago, I uploaded a cropped version of Mr. Grinny Flintlock Hat Guy from yesterday's post.
Naturally, he turned into a Nazgul, because his hat was just too fabulous for Artbreeder to contain.

I WAS UNDETERRED! And because I did this last week I do not have pictures of what-all I did, but between Children, Edit-Gene and Crossbreed with Burn and Calli pics, I ended up with some really, really nice images.

And because I was curious, in DAZ I took the guy's hat off and removed the "You're about to hurt and I'm going to like it" grin, rendered a close-up, then uploaded it.
Artbreeder, of course, turned him into a generic GI from a generic military video game.

NO FEAR!

This manic grinning blue-eyed dude was the result of a lot of slider play in Edit-Gene, but here's a bunch of others that I also got out of him between crossbreeding, Edit-Gene and Children.

Not shown: all the dudes that kept turning into Tom Hardy, because presumably the training data for Artbreeder had pictures of Tom Hardy in it. You can see one or two above with faint whiffs of Tom Hardy, which I don't actually mind, but as I was looking for new images, I mostly didn't bother to save them.
That's it for today's Artbreeder fun and games. I look forward to you guys trying it as well. XD
