In the Gloomhaven RPG board game there’s a mechanic where once your character finishes their personal quest, they retire and you create a new character.
Tiny, my giant hulking tank, just finished his personal quest—he was interested in the Times Before, which I interpreted as him being a conspiracy theorist and now he’s retired to try to make perpetual motion machines—and my new character is going to be a Nightshroud, which is (without leaving spoilers for![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
yhlee) a total edgelord. DARKNESS AND SHADOW IS HIS THING. He wears a dramatic hooded coat! Even more so because the randomly chosen personal quest I got boils down to “vigilante”—the world is corrupt and needs order AND I AM THE ONE TO BRING IT ONE DEAD CRIMINAL AT A TIME.
So I went looking online for good edgelord names, and found a Reddit thread where “Drakkar Noir” made me laugh hardest. And then I remembered my favorite fictional edgelord, Severian the Torturer from Wolfe’s Book of the New Sun. Aaand then the indigo/purple theme combined with vigilanteism suggested Darkwing Duck to both myrialux and I, so “Drake” also came to mind, DD’s secret identity name being Drake Mallard.
So a poll! Let me know which one you think my edgelord should be named, or suggest a new one you think is better. Difficulty level: you’re not allowed to use a Batman reference because that’s easy mode. I won’t guarantee I’ll name him what you pick* but I figure it’d be an entertaining poll anyway.
* because there’s a good chance I’ll end up calling him Gary.
