Lots of posts today...

...I guess to make up for not posting for days on end?

At any rate, I've been papercrafting along. I did indeed make one Thing and sent it out to someone who commented on the post back in...November, was it? I created a second Thing and before I'd gotten around to sending it to the next person on the list, (a) various bits of it started coming up because one of the materials I used wasn't the right one and (b) Christmas loomed on the horizon and I ended up making 3 golf score notebooks, 2 Christmas notebook/albums and one notebook with a Japanese stab binding for various family members. I have also made myself a discbound project notebook for home and a Coptic stitch/French link bound planner for work.

So there's every chance that you'll get something if your name is on the list. It just requires I make something without having a purpose in mind. :)

The most recent Thing I made was because [personal profile] yhlee is a Bad Influence. After his posting about the boardgame/RPG Gloomhaven, [personal profile] myrialux and I decided to go ahead and sink the money into it (it is...not cheap, but it is also extensive and full of tiny little tokens and per pound is probably a great deal). And because it is advisable to make some notes and keep track of things you have done and collected, instead of appropriating one of the many notebooks I have lying around, I made one.

Cover. This is a Japanese stab-bound binding, in something like the tortoiseshell stitch. I say "something like" because I discovered most of the way through it that you need the designs to be in multiples of 3 for the stitching to come out properly. It looks more-or-less OK but some of those stitches are doubled. (And there's a knot trying to come out of one of the holes because I ran out of thread and had to tie a knot there.)

Back cover. Both covers are printed onto beige light cardstock and have multiple layers of the antiquing (read: yellow-tinted) Mod Podge, with the top layer textures with a natural sponge to approximate leather. You need flexible covers with this binding method unless you make them hinged in some way. The yellowish splotch at the top of the back cover and on the side of the front cover are where I accidentally glued the covers to another piece of paper and had to paint them over with some ink. They look a bit better in real life.

Index page. There are four index pages only because that made a nice, neat multiple of 4 for printing out.

And various interior pages. I printed them with the ink-saving setting, and I realized only after they were printed that my nice bloodstains were now all pink.

Somehow I managed not to put the scrolls on the bottom of this page in Photoshop. The longer scroll is to label the notes on that page in whatever way is best to identify them, and the smaller one is for the page number. Except for this page.

And a page without bloodstains! Most of them are without bloodstains, really.

We haven't actually played the game yet: we just got it Sunday. :)

Wow, this looks so nice! Like something you'd find in an alchemist's workshop.

So maybe they're winestains, not bloodstains!

That is AMAZING. Whereas our Gloomhaven character sheets are printed on...pink printer paper, and mine is shredded because the catten chewed on it. XD
