0 kids, and 0 expected. Halloween in my area has been completely coopted by businesses and parents who do the pathetic "trunk or treat" in school parking lots.
We had 96 mini bottles of bubbles and 3 packs of candy with 90 pieces each. Until we ran out of bubbles, we were telling kids to take a candy and a bottle of bubbles. After that, between a couple of kids grabbing a handful, and us giving 2-3 pieces per kid out near the end, and us (cough@myrialuxcough) noshing, I figure we had at least 200 total, if not more.
That was 45 minutes ago AND I CAN STILL HEAR THEM OUT THERE.
Lots of non-costumed kids this year, but it was about 20 degrees colder than usual (low 40sF) so I think a lot of thin costumes didn't get worn. I appreciate the girl bundled up in her parka with her pink princess dress over the parka.
LOL! I spent childhood Halloweens trick-or-treating in semirural darkness with a failing flashlight wearing obvious long johns under my costume!! Sometimes with a snow jacket over everything! Make an effort, modern children! Princess Parka is completely correctly dressed.
I hope you're hearing real children out there and not zombies.
We got no trick-or-treaters on purpose; they were definitely out there but between Joe and Ara being antisocial and my being under the weather, we opted to turn off the porch light and hide. (Our house looks particularly inhospitable because hedges block the view of the front door from the street.) Ara was persuaded to go trick-or-treating with a friend, though, and delivered me a bag full of candy because she didn't want it. Purrrrrrrr.
