Well, today wasn't a total loss: I got [livejournal.com profile] kintail's Saiyuki Reload Gunlock HK DVD dubs, and a care package of fantasy books from [livejournal.com profile] rachelmanija. Of course the box the books came in arrives with mysterious oil stains on the exterior (not the interior, fortunately), and a hole bashed into the bottom of the box such that it actually damaged the books. They're all readable, luckily. One has a chunk ripped off the spine, but only the cover, the pages are OK, and the rest are just sort of bent and dented.

But thank you both! Now I have more stuff to procrastinate with entertain myself!

Huh, that reminds me of the time that I received a BPAL order in the mail that -- seriously -- looked like it'd been run over by the postal truck. My first reaction was: "Nooooo! Not the perfume!" You can see where my priorities are.

Luckily, everything was a-ok inside.

I havne't had any BPAL accidents yet. I did get one recently from someone to whome I give the Belt-And-Suspenders Award. The caps were taped down, the two imps were shoved into a tiny bag such that the caps couldn't come off even if they weren't taped down, the bag was taped shut with a lot of tape, then mummified in bubble wrap and tape, then put into a bubble mailer which had the flap glued, taped and stapled shut.

There was no way those things were going to arrive damaged unless the entire thing was backed over by a forklift.

That's some serious stuff right there. I usually don't tape down caps in the summertime here because, uh, they melt. O__O Maybe I'm just unlucky or maybe I just need to buy new tape, but yeah. During the wintertime, I have no problem although I recall being worried some oils would freeze when I sent them out. (It was snowing.)

I've been taping the caps down if I remember, which is about 2/3 of the time. Nobody's emailed me to tell me the caps popped off, and since I tend to mummify them in bubblewrap, I expect that the caps wouldn't come off anyway. :D

Hmph. Wonder what happened to the book box.

Dunno. From the oil stains I could predict that maybe it fell onto the ground somewhere and got bashed by a piece of equipment, although the hole was small enough that it would have had to be a small piece of equipment, instead of a forklift or something. But they're all readable, and they're all sitting on my bed right now, much to the delight of the cat who thought that the bed was a bit too soft and warm for her tastes, but now can drape bits of herself over cold, hard books.

Yay, you got the discs! The "quality" of the subs are a whole extra layer of entertaining... I hope you enjoy them!
