If you're looking to be notified about ebooks on sale, you could sign up for Early Bird Books, Open Road Media's daily newsletter. They specialize in picking up rights for previously published books, and put a decent amount on sale every day for $1.99, and send out an email with a list of that day's deals.

I was going to say it sounded a bit like bookbub which does books on sale/available free but looking at the pages they seem to be the same thing different name.

I think I wish I could enter in author or title keywords for alerts, not just genres, although I guess I'm not exactly sure which ones I would enter that have a significant chance of firing.
