I swear, they keep moving the jarred horseradish (the regular stuff, not "horseradish mayonnaise" or "horseradish mustard") around on me. Sometimes it's in the condiments section near the mustard! Sometimes it's in the Kosher foods section! Sometimes it's in produce! Sometimes it's been moved to the end of the aisles and is in a display with matzoh, thanks to an upcoming holiday!
This got spurred by myrialux being sent out for taco fixings last week, and him coming home with a package that contained taco shells, taco seasoning, and a couple of other things because he couldn't find the plain taco seasoning. Which, as I confirmed when we went to that store a few days ago, was over in Gravy. I can see why they did it that way, as a lot of gravy comes in those little packets and it's probably cheaper to put the packet-holders all in one area, but to someone who doesn't do a lot of shopping for these types of ingredients, it's completely non-intuitive.
This week I was mesmerized by the placement of regular pepperoni all over the store. It's in produce (by the salad stuff), in the deli (near the fresh cut meat), in the frozen section (by the pizza), at the back by the hot dogs, in the condiment aisle (with the croutons), and in the front near the cash registers. Turkey pepperoni? Only in the bacon section.
The store I frequent keeps all their pre-made seasoning packets in the condiments aisle. I've never been able to understand why. Shouldn't that stuff go in the herbs/spice aisle?
I usually don't have too much trouble finding things in the grocery store, because I only go to one store and have been going there exclusively for years, so I know exactly where everything is. But I can NEVER find the French's onion rings! They inexplicably keep moving them from canned fruit and veggies aisle to the pasta aisle to the condiments aisle! Arg!
I know that they move stuff because they WANT regular shoppers to have to re-orient themselves occasionally because the more stuff we see, the more we buy. However, I still hate it.
