For sale - bento boxes

I'm separating these out into several posts for organizational purposes. If you have a question, or want to buy something, comment in this post, please.

(And apologies for hard-water stains on them. I fail at drying things right away after I wash them. :D)

The capacity in mL is listed in them, because if you follow traditional bento box packing guidelines, you can assume that 1 mL - 1 calorie, which gives you a good idea if it's too big or too small for you. If you DON'T follow the guidelines, it tends to be too small. :D

The guidelines are to pack it FULL and pack it TIGHT, with 3 parts starch (like rice), 2 parts vegetables and fruit, and 1 part protein. Obviously not the best guidelines for diabetics to follow, but good if you're watching portion size or calories. Most of these will feed a middle-school size child, or a non-athletic woman, if packed correctly. I almost never pack it correcty, so I tend to throw in a piece of fruit or bag of chips or something else in a side container, and eat that as a midafternoon snack.

PINK AND BEIGE SAKURA 2-TIER BENTO BOX $2

Must be used with a bento strap - a length of elastic - or something else to keep the tiers together. Ichiban Kan USA sells them for $1-1.50, or you can jury-rig something. :)

The tiers are microwave and dishwasher safe, but the lids are not. Two tiers, each with a plastic lid, plus a decorative lid for the top. You could fit thin, short chopsticks, a few sticks of Pocky, a pack of wipes for your hands, salt and pepper packets, etc. right under the lid. The small tier tucks into the larger one when you're done, for ease of storage.

Hand in second pic for size-comparison purposes. I have average to small hands.

Comes with a free pair of chopsticks in a case!

Bottom tier: 240 mL
Top tier: 370 mL

IKEA SANDWICH BOX $2

I'm assuming it's supposed to be a sandwich box. It's pretty shallow - my sandwiches tended to get squished in there. But it would make a decently-sized bento box if you're not packing thick foods. :D There's a little dealy-bopper in the lid that tilts to let condensation out as whatever you put in it is cooling.

Size: thin! 5.5" x 5.5", 3/4" deep.

ORANGE HAPPY BALLOON 2-TIER BENTO BOX $2

The top plastic inner lid is warped, but works just fine if you don't put liquidy things in it and use a bento strap. Two-tier box with inner lids and a plastic lid on top. Microwaveable and dishwasher-safe without the lids (that's why the top lid is warped!). The small tier tucks into the larger one when you're done, for ease of storage.

Comes with a free pair of chopsticks in a case!

Bottom tier: 250 mL
Top tier: 330 mL

PINK COMMENT VAS-TU? 2-TIER BENTO BOX $2

I have no idea why I didn't take more photos, but you're used to what 2-tier boxes look like by now. Must be used with a bento strap or something else to keep it from falling apart as you're carrying it. The small tier tucks into the larger one when you're done, for ease of storage.

Microwave and dishwasher-safe minus the lids, as usual.

Top tier: 320 CC
Bottom tier: 180 CC

BLUE SQUARE 2-TIER BENTO BOX - $2

My very first bento box! I bought it from J-List, imported from Japan for WAY TOO MUCH MONEY about 5-6 years ago. And now I find I haven't used it in over a year, so time to send it to someone who will!

Slightly larger than the usual run of bento box, but without inner lids, just one that clips on. However, as the lid clips on, it doesn't need to be used with a bento strap. It does not seal, so liquidy foods will leak if it's tilted.

Top tier: 300 mL
Bottom tier: 350 mL

ORANGE 3-TIER BENTO BOX - $2

3-tier box, each tier with its own inner lid, and when I say "its own," I mean it - they won't fit properly unless you match the proper lid to the proper tier JUST RIGHT. Must be used with a bento strap to prevent it from falling apart when carrying.

Don't be fooled by the 3 tiers into thinking this is bigger than other boxes: each tier is much smaller than average, so overall it's slightly smaller than the others (490 mL total). Would work well as a child's box, or as a snack box, or as a lunch box for someone with a small appetite. :)

Top tier: 170 mL
Middle tier: 165 mL
Bottom tier: 155 mL

MASSIVE 2-TIER BENTO BOX $3

Believe me when I say this is huge. It was sold as a men's bento box, and I bought it thinking that it would finally fit my lunches, but ... toooo big! Okay, if I'm packing a sandwich and a couple of side dishes, it would fit, but if I'm trying to pack in leftovers and rice or whatnot, if I packed enough in it to keep the stuff from moving around, then it was WAY too much food.

One inner lid with a space to clip a pair of chopsticks in, one outer lid that clips onto both tiers so no bento strap is necessary. Microwave and dishwasher-safe without the lids. Very nice faux-woodgrain lid - this is a pretty box!

Top tier: 500 mL
Bottom tier: 650 mL

(that last picture featuring hard-water splotches all over everything!)

1-CUP THERMAL SOUP JAR $2

Exactly what the title says: it holds approximately 1 cup of soup or other food, with a screw-on inner lid and a snap-on outer lid. There is also a cute but so wee it's almost useless spoon/fork folding combo thing that tucks inside the lids. I never take soup to work with me for lunch, so into the pile it goes.

I have NO IDEA if it's microwave safe, but I've nuked it several times without it exploding. No guarantees, though! Dishwasher safe without the lids and wee spoon/fork thing. Will keep the contents warm for some time. This isn't an official bento thing, as I got it at Target.
