Me: Hello department store website! I am interested in looking at this leather tote bag!

Website: Hello! Sorry, we are sold out of that leather tote bag! we suggest one of these instead!
Website: Turtleneck sweater. Cardigan. Face cream. Face cream. Face cream. Lipstick.

Me: I think your matching algorithm needs to be tweaked a bit.

I did a search for bras at Amazon that brought up earrings and men's bathing suits. Seriously, searching 'front closure bra 36DDD' should not bring up things that aren't bras.

Then there's the tendency to recommend season or volume 6 of something when I rated season or volume 1 one star. Seriously, if I hated the first part, what are the odds I'll buy more of the same? But I'm not sure the algorithm pays any attention at all to what one hates.

I also get annoyed that it continually recommends for me things that I have already purchased from them (this particularly comes up with Japanese movies and seems to be, consistently, based on my having bought a very, very slightly different edition of the exact same movie) or that are on my wishlist.

These days, I'm mostly using Amazon as a source of suggestions for musicians to try either from the library or on YouTube. I dislike at least 85% of them, but a few are pretty good matches for my taste.

Tie the sweater's sleeves together and you have an awesome unique tote bag.

I can use it to carry my three face creams!

Amazon doesn't always differentiate between my buys and what I told them were gifts, so it often recommends really old black & white movies and kids' books and toys.
