I work in a university library and got called up from my office this past spring because the ref librarian on duty was asked for ideas on how to make a helmet from BioShock II, and he knew I'd worked at anime cons before, so figured I'd have an idea on cosplay!
(We tossed around ideas and I think she ended up with doing papier-maché over a beach ball and just carrying the helmet instead of making one she could wear since it was only 2 weeks until the con.)
