BPAL review: Akuma

Akuma

BPAL description: From the Diabolus collection. Devilish temptation, as sweet as sin: blood orange, neroli, and raspberry.

In vial: Hrm. There's a top note in here that I really don't like. Bitter?

Wet: That icky note blends a bit and the raspberry comes out more.

Dry: Raspberry with a bitter aftertaste.

Notes: Cat more interested in sleeping than smelling. Not for me - the raspberry is OK, although reminiscent of kiddie cosmetics, especially flavored lip gloss, but that bitter scent is … ick. I think it's the neroli.

Yes. Neroli smells like... poison ass.

Definitely in agreement. I've tried two other scents with neroli that were not my favorites for other reasons, but I don't think the neroli was strong enough in either to be an issue.

Yeah, the bitter note is definitely the neroli.

Good. Now I know to avoid it. XD

Seems the ultimate anti-Telophase blend would be neroli, dark musk, and mint with a soupcon of jasmine and cedar just to make me sneeze.

Given that Akuma is my absolute favorite, I think we might be BPAL inverses. ;-)

At least we can monitor each other's reviews for anti-recommendations. XD

Yes! That would be my ultimate worst combination, too! (But we aren't BPAL twins, though, because Aizen-Myoo is *divine* on me.)

I tried Akuma at a meet-n-sniff and it was horrid. I was blaming the blood orange, because I'd tried other blends with neroli with no problem, but maybe it just wasn't prominent enough to stink before....

Cedar is terrible on me. And I also think I might be just a little bit allergic to the Lab's cedar note because whenever I put something with cedar in it, my skin starts to itch just a bit. Same with vetiver(t). I'm not sure which one it is; I know the Lab has two different versions indicated by vetiver and vetivert, respectively. One makes my skin itch; the other is fine.

Dark musk is a disaster on me. The only red musk that's worked on me is the one in Lampades. White musk works just fine though.

Dark & heavy = anti-Vern apparently. XD
