Snow and birds

Photos from yesterday and today.

Sparrow hiding under the bush.

Sparrow venturing out to try for the seed we periodically scattered on the porch and the snow under the feeder. I think it's a Lincoln's sparrow.

Evidence that our efforts to feed them were appreciated.

Dark-eyed junco. There had been several others, but they flew off when I approached the window. This guy didn't see me, being more focused on finding seeds.

Mourning dove with snow on its tail, being very wary of me.

You know, I don't think I'd ever actually seen a mourning dove before! So pretty! ^_^

Locally, we have a different kind of sparrow. There's a much drabber kind of dove I see around here and I'm not sure what it is.

We have more house sparrows--I've only seen these guys a few times. Unless I'm mistaking them for female house sparrows, which is possible!

The doves around here are mostly these guys and white-winged doves. Maybe Inca doves, too, which are smaller than these, but I'm not sure. I've certainly seen the Incas south of here.
