Our last photo of Takayama, out of the window next to the elevator on our floor. No idea what that big building in the distance is, but it’s quite striking, isn’t it?

I was trying to find out where you were using Google Maps but totally did not succeed. The only sign I can read is the big "Takayama" on the tower but I have no idea what the rest says.

We were at the Hida Hotel Plaza at Takayama, but I have no idea which direction I was facing when I took that. :)

...daytime. Winter. Presumably morning, because you're headed out and will want travel time. Later morning, because shadows on the eves are fairly pronounced, meaning the sun is up a bit. Faces of buildings towards you are illuminated fully; right sides are shaded. Sun is behind you, and to the left. Hida Hotel Plaza Takayama appears

It's around 10am and you're facing west. Can I find... I have FOUND THE BLUE TOWER.

Here y'go. 崇教真光世界総本山. The Sukyo Mahikari World Shrine in Takayama, a modern mashup religion of Shinto, Buddhism, and some form of shamanism with which I am unfamiliar. Some on-grounds video. Some commentary. Wikipedia.

Thank you! I am awed! :D. As the hotel's free wifi is dodgy enough to make watching videos a chore, I shall wait until I'm somewhere better, like the PLANE, to watch them, but i'll go peruse Wikipedia right now, as we're waiting in the lobby for the dryer to finish our clothes. :>

Once I had line of sight, it was easy - the only reason I didn't find it the first time was because it looks black for some reason in Google satellite view. ^_^
