Bubbli

Crossposted from Glamorous in Retrospect. Author: Stephanie.

There’s this service called Bubbli (at bubb.li) that allows you to use your iDevice to capture your surroundings in a 360° bubble that you can then move around too look at. I just tested it out on the main room of the hanare (guest house) that we’re staying in in Arashiyama, a suburb of Kyoto. It doesn’t handle straight lines close up to well, and I tended to move the phone too fast when it was pointing down so the crud we’ve piled on the table is out of focus, but somehow I think that’s OK. :). Try it out and let me know what you think, and I’ll try to capture a few more. (I turned off the location tagging since this is a private house and I think the owners would prefer it not be on.)

It'so really awesome on a tablet, because you can pick the tablet up and move it around and it's like you're looking through a window at it. You can also record a snippet of sound to add to the ambience.
