(no subject)

Was working up 1/4-page flyers for the manga anthology to pass out at AnimeFest, and realized that I didn't have anything logo-like to use, and it rather needed a logo. So I worked one up. It'll probably change in the future as we need one that reads better when smaller or more or less stylized, or whatever, but I think this basic idea will probably stick.

I'm still iffy on the eyes - you can suggest alternatives, although it will be too late for this particular flyer, since I'm about to finish slapping it together and print it out. He's based on Maitreya Buddha, the Buddha to come at the end of the fifth world cycle, and who is the fat, happy Buddha people tend to think of when they think of the Buddha. (Hence the happy-closed-curved eyes)

ETA:

Here's the flyer. I did change the eyes a little bit and strengthened the nose reflection, none of which you can probably see in the low-res version here. And the info is sparse and doens't mention things like the token amount of payment or whatnot, but it was a matter of putting everything on the flyer or the absolute minimum.

And now I have to go make this into an incredibly basic website with a link to the forums.

I like it but am iffy on the eyes too - but I think its the whole face. he needs to be "laughing" more in appearance. The expression doesn't quite work.

Otherwise I like it.

Yeah. But that'll have to wait for the next flyer, or at least the next version of the website. XD

(What I need to do is find someone with m4dz web-design skillz who wants to design a website for us for no money, because I have the skillz but not the time. And I need to make up content to go on said website.)

I love the logo. I think it's cute and ironic. It definitely caught my attention, which a logo should do. The eyes are great. But the prayer beads are really what made me grin.

XD I poked about Google Images for a bit, and decided that it was the way to make the "Buddha" bit obvious.

I should maybe make them red for the flyer. I think I'll try that.

I have also accepted the necessity to, at some point in the near future, buy "pandabhudda.com" and redirect it to "pandabuddha," since that's how everyone and their dog misspells it. And if it's necessary, "pandabudda.com."

People misspell buddha? Huh. The things being a religion major makes you oblivious to.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2005-09-02 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
ALL THE TIME. It drives me up the wall to see "Bhudda" and it's EVERYWHERE. Poeple know there's an "h" in there somewhere, and take a wild stab at where it ought to be, and most of the time completely miss it.

Hee! I like that description. Of course, I really shouldn't laugh too loudly, since another side effect of my major is the unfortunate tendancy to write "calvary" when I mean "cavalry".

XD I can see where that would happen. It took me many years to realize it was "Calvary" and not "Cavalry".
