BPAL review: Baron Samedi

Baron Samedi

BPAL description: From the Excolo collection. A notorious voodoo priest, who eventually rose to become one of the funereal Guédés, alongside Baron Cimitère and Baron La Croix. He is a Guardian of the Crossroads: the pathways between our world and the realm of the spirits. As a Master of the Graveyard, he ensures that burial rites are performed with skill, and he helps ferry souls to the dark realm. In his honor, we have created this scent: our spin on traditional Bay Rum. (Traditionally masculine)

In vial: Very powerful, very sharp. Bay rum, pretty much - Hellcat without the sweetness, with a dark botanical scent and cloves. So powerful, in fact, that when I opened the imp to take a sniff yesterday, the Baron was still evident in the area fifteen minutes later.

Wet: Bay and cloves. Not as strong as it was in the bottle, but I only put a tiny swipe on.

Dry: The cloves come out more, but not in such a harsh way as Jack. A sort of smoky clove. And three hours later, what's left is that faint lemony scent that cloves seem to devolve into on me.

Notes: I do believe my cat does not like the Baron. She sniffed and pulled her head back sharply, then decided to try the food bowl again in the hopes that something YUMMY had materialized there in the five minutes since she had last checked it. The final judgment: smoky cloves, rather nice, but not quite me, I think.
