Laundry Room!

A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned that we'd gone to IKEA and the Container Store and PURCHASED ALL THE THINGS because we'd finally gotten our washer and dryer stacked and could finally get our laundry room organized.

We added the final touch tonight, so now I have pictures!

This is not the final touch. We've had this for a while. This is a Cathole. It comes with a brush, to groom the cats as they go in and out, but Nefer and Sora refuesed to have anything to do with the brush. At any rate, it allows us to keep shut the door to the laundry room/cat poop parlor.

And now, the door...open! This is a tiny laundry room, really more of a passageway to the garage--that's the garage door you see in back there. The stacked washer/dryer are to the right side there, and you can barely see the thingy on the wall behind the entrance door that holds brooms and mops.

The wire shelves on the garage door are what we bought from the Container Store.

And a view of the strange little niche. Presumably it was meant to put your brooms in, but the previous owners had put 2 shelves in, at exactly the right height to not allow you to put a broom or mop with a full-size handle in there. No clue what they stored there. The niche is exactly 12" wide and 16" deep. We banged on the shelves with a mallet until they came out, and found this skinny bathroom cabinet from IKEA, which was EXACTLY 11 3/4" wide and 15" deep. IT WAS MADE FOR US.

And open, so you can see the rest of our cleaning crap. I knew you wanted to.

Just to the left in the previous photo, the broom-and-mop holder, affixed to the only decent piece of wall in there.

And now, the appliance side! The washer and dryer are huge, and when they were side-by-side, we had to put the cats' litterboxes in front of the garage door, so we couldn't use it. (There is an other door to the garage in the hall, so it wasn't horrible.) Stacking the washer/dryer allowed us to put the boxes into the space vacated by the washing machine.

The white things you see on the floor there are puppy pads. They're a necessity because Nefer does not aim well, and occasionally misses the box. We got tired of mopping the floor.

And now, the FINAL TOUCH! Our CROWNING GLORY! Not the FRESHLY WASHED AND REFILLED litterboxes, mind you, but our wall feature! OUr cats now have Disapproving Lion Family to look at while they poop!

The image is a removable wall decal from the National Geographic Cafepress store. I've got several other decals, three in my office at work and one in my office at home, and this seemed like the perfect touch for the laundry room. :)

Tidying up and organising all the things! There's a surprising pleasure to it, isn't there.
