I have been there for some time as Sosiqui. I also had two silver tiger/violet shimmer spiral babies hatch this morning; if you would like one, let me know and you can has.
I spent a lot of time this afternoon goofing off and exploring and figuring stuff out. If you want to fight in the Coliseum, you need at elast 3 adult dragons--MadameHardy traded me one, since she's been on it for quite some time and has lots of dragons. :)
I also figured out I could buy baby dragons in the Auction House (not real auctions, just straight buying) and bought two with slightly more rare characteristics for eventual breeding. I also found an egg while scavenging, and it hatched into baby Cedric. MadameHardy told me that finding eggs like that is rare--she's only ever found two. Woo!
I fully expect I will play regularly for a while and then forget and stop and my dragons will starve to death. Hopefully I remember and can sell or trade them before then so they live on!
I'm a sucker for these kinds of things. At least for a little bit. It's a good job Neopets don't actually starve to death is all I can say... These poor dragons have no hope...

Reading the FAQ it turns out the dragons can't actually starve, they just get grumpy and start refusing to breed. Not that I can blame them for that really. Give it a month and I'm sure they'll be just as hungry as my Shoyru (maybe it's just a dragon thing with me...)
