BPAL review: Port-au-Prince
Port-au-Prince
BPAL description: From the Wanderlust collection. Dark, decadent and incomparably exotic: the rich scent of buttered rum flavored with almond, bay, clove and sassafras.
In vial: Cloves and rum.
Wet: Smooth cloves, with a side of Lemon Pledge. Kind of like a dried citrus fruit studded with cloves. I'd probably scent a wardrobe with it, but not myself.
Dry: It becomes a dusky clove smell. I am totally having SCA and Renaissance Festival flashbacks with this.
Notes: Cat sniffed it with a slight interest, then got cranky and wanted me to pet her instead of standing there. I rather like this because it reminds me of my SCA years - cloves were a rather common thing for cooking and scenting clothes, with hints of very faint smells of pipes and bay leaves and cooking and other smells. I wouldn't wear it unless I were in garb (and then I'd be all over it), but it does have that pomander feel to it, where I'd put it in something and hang it up in a closet. It's fairly strong at first, and then all of a sudden fades to just a faint scent of cloves. (edit: 15 minutes later and I can only detect a veeeery faint lemony-clove scent.)

It smells almost exactly like the cloven orange I made and kept in a drawer for a year or two. :D

I caved on the BPAL thing when I heard about Midway (cotton candy! yum), and got a freebie of Elegba with that. Ho, boy, is it nice.
