Advice

Reading the turn-of-the-last-century book What Every Young Wife Should Know, and it's a recipe for instilling serious inadequacy and other complexes into women and thence into their children.

You are encouraged to tell your kids a little of the travails of their birth, as it's supposed to make them love and reverence you more, when they hear of how hard it was to bring them into the world.

I can see no way for that to go wrong.

Oho, my mother must have read that book. You'd think she was the first woman to undergo HOURS of labour before the doctors decided she lacked sufficient pelvic-tailbone flexibility (there's a term for this condition I found much later and then forgot again) to let my head out, and so I got evicted surgically. HOURS!

My only (younger) sib was evicted by appointment and so she didn't get any labour guilt-trips. SOOO UNFAIR!
