Somehow, I don't think I'm taking this in the spirit the author intended.

From _What a Young Wife Ought to Know_, by Mrs Emma F Angell Drake, M.D. Alas I do not know what the date of copyright is as the OCR on this copy mangled the date, but it's contemporary with the book in my previous post, which had originally been published in 1897 and updated for 1913, so late 1800s up to mid-1910s. Drake certainly rails about the evils of corsetry.
