BPAL review: Bordello
OK, got three more imps in the mail today.* Was going to continue with the order I'd set up on my dorky little spreadsheet, until I popped the cap off of this one and smelled it.
Bordello
BPAL description: From the Love Potions collection. A decadent, deep perfume, lusty and luxuriant. The scent evokes images of velvet-lined Old West cathouses, tightly laced corsets, rustling petticoats and coquettish snarls of pleasure. Bawdy plum with amaretto, burgundy wine and black currant.
In vial: OK, yum. I can smell a dark fruity berry smell, most likely the plum, with the Amaretto providing a nice base, almost a chocolate. It's a familiar smell but I can't quite place it.
Wet: Sweet and smooth and berry/wineish. Still, yum.
Dry: Dries into a more sophisticaed vaguely berry wine-ish smell. Me like. Me like lots. About an hour later, there's a buttery smell left, which is probably the Amaretto. Yum.
Notes: Cat: "You woke me up for this??" Berries! Not as OMG BERRY as Jester (I seem to compare everything to Jester, don't I?), but darker and sweet and sophisticated and smooth, like good dark chocolate. It's got a really familiar smell that I can't place - time to hit the BPAL forums and see if anyone else IDs it. (ETA: They say cherry and yes: cherry Starburst candy XD Good thing I like them.) The Amaretto, while not really present, is probably doing good thngs, since nuts seem to love me. :D The imp is a keeper and may warrant a 5 mL at some point. I think I'd get one anyway, just to be able to say "My perfume? Bordello."
Final verdict? Yum.
* Hey, when I throw myself into a hobby, I throw hard. But starting next week, I should have a pretty good idea of what does and doesn't work on me, and have a buncha imps to swap. XD
You know, I really feel like I ought to put on some Gluttony if I'm going to be working on my Mello picture. but the Bordello stays ... tough!
