Chocolate olive oil cake
Just ran across this recipe for a chocolate olive oil cake, and am thinking about how it might go with one of the infused olive oils that the olive oil boutique-y store nearby sells. They've got olive oils infused with blood orange, with roasted almond, and with roasted French walnuts that might go. Toby will vote for the almond-infused oil every time, but I'm slightly partial to orange and chocolate together. Their chipotle-infused oil might actually work, given that chocolate works well with chile and smoky flavors! I'd probably do that one for a party, though, instead of at home, in case it ended up not for me.
They've also got a butter-infused olive oil that tastes very much like movie popcorn "buttery topping," and which I will one day buy to use on home-popped popcorn (the store allows you to sample!). But I think it would be waaay too buttery for the cake.

We just used up the last of a delicious peach-infused white vinegar, so my instant reaction to the whole concept of "infused" is "yes, please." (Of course, you're talking oil, not vinegar.)

Thanks for the link! We got that vinegar from this place in Frederick, MD, which also has oils. We had this oil as well - delicious!
(And ugh, the Frederick store has a framed site! Haven't seen one of those in a professional setting for quite some time ... .)
