You people with your high-tech machines...! :D I (have to) wash by hand. I do wash them twice, though--once to get all of the visible stuff off and to wipe around any edges that might have got spit on them, and once to make sure it really is clean (and then a rinse under hot water to get any trace of lingering soap or dirt off)--so I suspect that I might wash them off before putting them in the dishwasher, if I had a dishwasher. (Because I am compulsive about the cleanliness of things I put in my mouth.)
