Movie

Down in Austin right now. Toby's playing his RPGs and I'm over at the house of friends amusing myself while he's over there. I came down with him this time as we spent Friday night in Wimberley visiting family.

Anyway, I took the opportunity to take myself to the Alamo Drafthouse to see Snow White and the Huntsman. I really had the urge to live-tweet it, except that the AD will TOSS YOU OUT ON YOUR EAR if you're doing that. Alas, for the movie sort of called for it.

There were many cool bits in it, but it never really jelled for me into a coherent whole. Chris Hemsworth really does the scruffy looker well, doesn't he?

Also I never had noted the need to create a love triangle in Snow White. Hmmmm.

Yeeeah. The movie had some issues. Particularly the storm drain. You would think 'hey, we're going to siege and uh.. we've lost people out of the storm drains before.,.. ' maybe they would, y'know... COVER THAT SHIT UP. Also, I hope that Snow White was paying attention in her statecraft classes because, GUESS WHAT. YOU NOW HAVE A COUNTRY TO RUN. ENJOY BEING A PUPPET MONARCH.

That all aside, I like the fact that we did not treat the dwarves too much like a joke.

Also, ms. Stewart cannot act. And I was really, really hoping she would show me should could. Oh well, she can be the Keaneau Reeves of the female generation of actresses. XD

Silly Telophase, EVERY story needs a love triangle! Otherwise what will get the audience emotionally invested? What will inspire characters to chance or aspire, if not to win Hottie X before their dreaded rival? What can possibly stir human feelings besides vicarious jealousy and/or insecurity and/or the ego kick of being the center of multiple people's aspirations, like a finish line? Those are literally the only emotional provocations humans can understand! We have no other drives or interests!

...I have Opinions about love triangles.

I'm weirdly bummed I didn't know you'd be in Austin! It's not like you'd know me from any random person on the Austin streets (and probably only in Austin could I describe myself and still be Any Random Person) but I still feel like I missed the chance for a Telophase celebration party, and I only you from LJ. The internet makes for weird emotions.

I didn't bother to post about it because I didn't think about it - we've been hitting the ground running for two weeks now, and the primary purpose was to visit my grandmother on Friday, so I didn't think very much about what I'd be doing on Saturday. Ah well!
