myrialux: The grocery list has cascabel peppers. I can't find the sign, but I think these are cascabels.

I *like* Scotch bonnets. I cut them up into minute pieces and use a pinch in meals - which adds plenty of heat - but unlike other peppers, Scotch bonnets have a taste.

I am sensitive to pepper heat such that a minute particle of Scotch bonnet would render an entire dish completely inedible.

Fair enough, and there are indeed intense heat moments. I just found that I would rather have a minute amount of Scotch bonnet than lots of mild chilies, hence my habit of using something that's beyond my abiliy to use in anything other than near-homeopathic doses.

We didn't find any cascabels, but I have been spared the Scotch bonnets!

I think he'd have figured out the difference real quick if he'd tried using scotch bonnet like cascabel! But he might not have survived the experience. ;)
