I'm looking at building an email template in Outlook 2010* and while I can do it, it always includes the images (logo, any images included in the email) as part of the email, even when I do HTML. Is it possible in Outlook 2010 to build a template/stationery in such a way so that the images are hosted on our own server and loaded when the recipient opens the email, isntead of having to clog up the email system if someone inadvertantly uses a large image? (I know it's possible in other systems, as that's one way spammers test if your email is active, but I dunno if I can get Outlook 2010 to do it.)


* Plz no cracks about not using it. Not an option in this case.

I actually like outlook 2010 a lot for work purposes.


What is the operating system?

What you need to do is create the sig, then edit it manually.

It's a hidden folder. You go into the documents and settings (or equive) for the user, application data , Microsoft, signatures and edit file.


I can provide better instructions if you need something better than this off the cuff comment.

Will that ensure the images are just linked from another server instead of being included in the email?

The folder is appdata/ roaming then steps as normal.


Its how it's worked for me, but some people need to edit the registry in addition so send pictures with doc value is 0.

Thanks. Looks like I'd need to edit the registry, and I'm not sure how kindly our IT department would take to that! (Not to mention it'd probably get wiped out when some update was pushed out.)

So I think I'll be sticking with forms and stationery, and issue grave warnings about sending out multi-megabyte images. :)
