Yeah, it came with a griddle, but I THINK it comes off and can be replaced by another burner. We wanted a grill pan more than a griddle, but hey. We can always buy one of those.
We ended up with this one after looking at Consumer Reports and reviews online, and I'm so happy to finally be able to have constant heat instead of the electrical cycling with the old burners. Not to mention being able to pop bell peppers directly on the burner for a bit of a char. :)
Exactly! Our first meal on it will be pasta with red sauce, so we can time how long a 17K BTU burner to boil a large pot of water. I cannot wait until we get a grill pan - it comes with a griddle pan but not a grill pan - and also a proper wok. And I'm looking forward to being able to put bell peppers directly on the burners to get a good char on the skins.
I find that while stainless steel is easy to smudge with fingerprints there are these oily cleaners (some are biologically degradable but they still work on the basis of rubbing an oily substance into the metal) that give a nice film and it takes quite a while to smudge it up again. So once you have time to clean it the stainless parts should look like new, in comparison with the actual top of the range after it's been regularly used for cooking ^^.

Is that a griddle in the center? Most people use those a few times and then not so much... there are only so many pancakes a person needs...
