*whine* There's a big split in my right thumbnail so I've got a band-aid on it to prevent it from getting caught on things and ripping further (it's painful). Naturally it renders me unable to use my trackball easily because the surface of the Band-aid doesn't have enough friction on the ball. (It's even one of those woven ones!)

Alas, woe is me.

Ack, sympathies--I've had similar happen to me and it interfered with a surprising number of things.

Thanks! I got the coworker in charge of managing equipment to slip me a spare mouse for a couple of days so I'm at least better off than I was this morning.

I might just drop by Walgreens on the way home from work and see if they've got any nail wraps for sale. Gluing the thing down may help a bit, as it's too deep to just trim my nail super-close.

In the absence of actual nail wraps I've occasionally put a strip of adhesive Scotch tape on my nail and then put a few coats of polish over the tape and whole nail, making sure there aren't any exposed edges on the tape because that can pull up as the polish job ages.

I ended up using a bit of the transparent duct tape I've got at my desk, and polishing over it!

It's finally worked its way down and across enough that I'm back to the bandaid, as the only thing keeping that bit of nail on is the duct tape at this point. I'll try to leave it there another day or two to protect my nail bed as long as possible. :)
