I noticed that it was his inability to design and construct for anyone other than a fit model that sent him home!
Really, didn't he ever realize that at some point down the line, real people were going to have to wear his clothes? Or did he assume that he'd have a staff in charge of making them over to fit non-model-size humans?
Real people get in the way of the purity of his design! I imagine that a staff trying to articulate and adjust his vision would also get in the way of his design....
