While I don't know anyone in the Bastrop area, I've driven through the town many, many times in the past 30+ years (for one, it was the halfway point between home and college), and what the residents are going through right now saddens me.

When my Republican mother cracks "How nice of him to take the time to look in on them" at a news item about Perry going back to Texas to do some governing, you know people are starting to notice that he's not paying enough attention.
