Unusual sight...

...at least in the middle of the city. Yesterday on the way home from work, I saw a man on the side of the road carrying a large, unwieldy, white bundle in an odd manner. When I got closer, I discovered his bundle to be, in fact, a white goose. He had its wings pinned down under one arm, and was holding tightly onto its neck with the other. Not exactly what I expected to see in the area.

He was walking towards a park that has a creek which is populated with ducks and geese. I am assuming the goose wandered off and he was returning it.

I am assuming he's on his way home from the beanstalk.

While driving in upstate NY with a friend I saw a man in a plaid shirt carrying a huge cross over his shoulder and back along the side of the road. My friend didn't turn to look in time, and thus didn't believe me.

...!!!! Vindication.

I once saw a car that had a Jesus fish-style Flying Spaghetti Monster, with the acronym FSM inside the shape, on it.

Or he's trying to reenact that Sherlock Holmes story.

Huh. The city-dwelling Canada geese in Toronto are scary badasses who go wherever they want and people stay out of their way. A couple of times there have been a pair loitering ominously on the sidewalk between the IKEA and it's nearby subway station, and I've crossed the road (along with my fellow pedestrians) to give them as much space as I could. I've never seen anyone carrying a live one!

I've never seen them as roadkill either, though I have seen them take their sweet old time crossing busy arterial roads, which makes me secretly suspect that they're like the moose in rural Newfoundland: usually in collisions the vehicle is totalled but the moose walks away.

I've always heard that geese can be nasty little so-and-sos, and have avoided them whenever possible. Which probably makes that guy a badass for capturing it. XD
