I am now vaccinated as of this morning, with the new one-dose version. No side effects other than a really sore arm. We shall see if the side effects are worse than the tetanus shot, which gave me a really sore arm for a week. Also, the shot itself hurt bad, I presume because it was student nurses at my employer giving the shot, and that means they don't have as much experience (but will after this!).

I posted under lock yesterday. I'd signed up at both my employer and my county's sites--employer wasn't sure when they'd be getting their order, so encouraged us to do so--and this weekend got the county's notification that my appointment was reserved on Wednesday between 3-4 pm at a large baseball stadium in the metroplex.

One hour before I was going to leave, [personal profile] myrialux came into my office and said that his coworker (who I think is in charge of the website) called him and said that our employer was doing a vaccine clinic tomorrow (i.e. today) and offered us the chance to sign up a bit early, I think because he was doing stress tests on the website. So I cancelled the drive-to-the baseball-stadium two-dose-vaccine appointment and signed up for the drive-to-work one-dose appointment because that seemed better all around. The official email went out at the close of the workday yesterday, when I'd have been back from my originally scheduled appointment, so I am grateful to [personal profile] myrialux's coworker for the hat tip.

Anyway! Things will hopefully be looking up soon. I also need to remember where I keep the vaccination card. Not sure how long this vaccination will last, but I expect we'll be needing the cards to do any travel later this year, if we're cleared to and we decide to.
