Dec. 30th, 2004 09:15 pmCat went to the vet today for spaying - still in heat, although the vet didn't have a problem with spaying her while in heat. So yay, once the hormones filter out of her bloodstream I will be able to get a full night's sleep again!
She's fairly chipper for having had major surgery, although she was staggering around in an amusing way after I got her home because the drugs hadn't completely worn off yet. She was quite ready to come home. And she's a bit weirded out because I have to keep her from jumping for two days, so I turned my bedroom into a Jump-Free Zone and covered every available surface that I could with stuff that was easily washable should she express her displeasure by peeing on things, and she doesn't like any of it and would really like to have her old house back. After she thoroughly smelled my room and all her stuff that I'd moved into it, she clambered back into her cat carrier and sat down, as if to say "OK, I'm ready to go to my real home now." She's feeling good enough to be grumpy that I'm not letting her out of my room, so I get the occasional scratching on the door, if I make a noise loud enough to be heard in there.
And it turns out that I might have a cat that suffers from irritable bowel syndrome, due to a couple of symptoms that I shall spare you in case you're eating right now, although it may just be due to stress. The vet is going to evaluate her for that when I take her back in next week for her booster shots and to check up on her spay, and if she decides that's her problem, I get to put her on an even blander diet than she's on now (generic Science Diet for Adult Cats food). Well, at least the cat hasn't found any human food she likes, despite my best efforts to feed her all sorts of things that *normal* cats like, so she shouldn't be too much trouble to stay on just the nonallergenic cat diet (allergies being the primary reason cats get IBS, apparently). I take that back - I have found that she likes Fritos that have been dropped on the floor in a hidden spot and gotten nice and stale after a couple of days.
