Sep. 18th, 2004 05:13 pmAm slowly limping my way back to computer life. I've got some of my most frequently used programs reinstalled, although come to think of it I ought to hook up the old drive as a slave and see if I can scrape stuff off of it before I get everything too much in place just in case it crashes things.
I also have my new apartment's keys - all five of them (2 door, 2 mailbox, 1 pedestrian gate) and access card - and have been looking up furniture and appliances online, since I'm going to buy a bed and a full-size washer/dryer and the new palce doens't come with a microwave.
Speaking of microwaves, I have found out that I can purchase one with an FM receiver and voice-recording capabilities. I cannot tell you how many times I have been in the kitchen microwaving popcorn and thought "Self? If only I had the capability of recording my voice at this instant in time, everything would turn out for the best." It could only be even more perfect, however, if it had a grill and toaster oven as well. A girl can dream.
I am a bit bemused at the gated-ness of my new apartment complex, since they don't function very well as security -- half the time the gates are left open and the other half the time you just wait until someone else comes through and follow them in. If I'd had a choice of two complexes equal in everything else with the only difference being the gates, I'd go for the non-gated one just so as not to deal with the hassle, but I had a choice of two[*] and this one was superior in every way.
[*] If I transferred from one Camedn property to another, they wouldn't charge me for breaking my lease, and they waived my transfer fee, *and* I qualified for a couple of deals, so overall this made the most financial sense. These were the only two Fort Worth Camden properties. The other one,a cross the street, seemed a little desperate to get me in and offered me way too good of a deal, but the apartments were dingy and I didn't get good vibes from the complex.
