Dammit

Today when I was almost at work, I saw a turtle crossing the street in a residential area. I pulled over, so I could pick it up and get it out of the street, but before I could get out of the car when some asshole just ran it over. I don't know if they even saw it - they didn't swerve the car or anything - but it scares me how some people can be so oblivious to large things in the road like a box turtle.

I am so angry right now, and when I got into my office I locked the door and cried.

Ugh, I'm so sorry. The other day I swerved around what I thought was a rock and turned out to be a turtle. I was going to pull over, but I saw someone was already getting it out of the road. So...there's a happy turtle story to hopefully counterbalance your crappy day?

When I pass roadkill, I always say a little prayer for them. Doesn't make them any less dead, but at least if their spirits are hanging around they know somebody gives a shit.

I have a similar compulsion, although in a less spiritual form: to name what it is - possum, raccoon, squirrel, etc., for much the same reason - so that somebody gives a shit.

I hit a squirrel the other day. I was going just above 30, and I didn't see it until it was right square in front of my car. I tried to steer to straddle it with my wheels but it kept going and one of my back tires got it.

I did that with a snake once. I also had a squirrel run directly into my front left wheel when I was on the highway. Those happened about a decade ago, and I still feel guilty. D:
