Cram: Owning more than two dildos has been banned and the government controls anger.

That one works together unusually well. ;)

ETA: This one too:

Attack: Pants have been banned and the government controls teen angst.

Slam: Horses have been banned and the government controls bringing horses inside a house.

There's just something about this one:

Click: The name Steve has been banned and the government controls the Internet.

It's some sort of dystopia in which Microsoft has taken over the world and banned all references to Apple products.

You got it

[identity profile] movingfinger.livejournal.com 2011-05-19 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Bug: The name Steve has been banned and the government controls Linux.

Re: You got it

Hee!

Brave: Skirts have been banned and the government controls martial arts.

(Which of course is begging for an anime in which a girl is set on practicing martial arts in a skirt ...)

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2011-05-19 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I just got:

Drag: Sex has been banned and the government controls television.

[identity profile] tprjones.livejournal.com 2011-05-19 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Whimper: Alcohol has been banned and the government controls brownies.

Man, a sobering nightmare that one is.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2011-05-19 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, indeed!
sistabro: (Default)

[personal profile] sistabro 2011-05-19 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
This is the best thing ever, just so you know. :)

Drag: Telepathy has been banned and the government controls nightmares.

Done right, I would totally read that scifi horror story :D

Would you mind if a hosted a comment meme based off the prompts from this?

Knock yourself out. :)

Here's the meme if you are interested :D

Come join us at [livejournal.com profile] random_dystopia for a multi-fandom/original fiction comment fic/art/vid/poetry/whatever meme based on the output from the excellent YA Distopia Story Generator. Some example prompts are: Knock: News has been banned and the government controls bringing horses inside a house; Light: Showering in the nude has been banned and the government controls knitting. We also welcome original dystopia concepts! All genres, pairings, fandoms and kinks are welcome!

[identity profile] cicer.livejournal.com 2011-05-19 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Thrill: Video games have been banned and the government controls career options.

I kind of think this would actually make a pretty good YA dystopia novel. Someone write it!

Girl: Chocolate has been banned and the government controls skirts.

OH NOES WHAT WILL TEH WIMMINZ DO WITHOUT SKIRTS OR CHOCOLATE?!

[identity profile] rachelmanija.livejournal.com 2011-05-19 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Remarkably apt:

Twirl: Stainless steel has been banned and the government controls propeller beanies.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2011-05-19 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Drown: Icebergs have been banned and the government controls video games.

Rise: Nudity has been banned and the government controls the media.

Oh, wait, that one's not that farfetched...

[identity profile] rachelmanija.livejournal.com 2011-05-19 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Dimmed: Gatherings of more than six unrelated people have been banned and the government controls bringing horses inside a house.

...do horses count as "unrelated people?"

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2011-05-19 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Run: Pants have been banned and the government controls dogs.

I see some sort of televised-game related story here...

ETA:

Noodle: Trousers have been banned and the government controls sex.

...Perhaps quite the apropos title there...

Pinch: Prom has been banned and the government controls gender.

Girl: Hope has been banned and the government controls reproduction.

Live: Denim has been banned and the government controls lace.

Maximize teen angst with:

Ouch: Anime has been banned and the government controls career options.

and

Swell: Teenage girls having sex has been banned and the government controls fanfic

[identity profile] mothoc.livejournal.com 2011-05-19 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Zoom: Old people have been banned and the government controls BDSM.

I think I've seen that movie, actually....

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2011-05-19 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Logan's Run probably counts as in the genre of YA dystopia!

[identity profile] movingfinger.livejournal.com 2011-05-19 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Dance: Teen Angst has been banned and the government controls happiness.

[identity profile] movingfinger.livejournal.com 2011-05-19 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Hurl: Midlife crises have been banned and the government controls writing.

Pulse: Romance has been banned and the government controls knitting.

...there's a YA porn subgenre?

Vibrate: BDSM has been banned and the government controls banana slugs.

Seize: Cheerleaders have been banned and the government controls lingerie.

Tremble: Cloth has been banned and the government controls gatherings of more than six unrelated people.

Hitch: Body hair has been banned and the government controls weight.

Lash: Homosexuality has been banned and the government controls bringing horses inside a house.

In the "good luck with that" section:

Shoot: Cats have been banned and the government controls teenagers.

Attack: Television has been banned and the government controls children.

Guess: Teenage girls having sex has been banned and the government controls migraines.

I think I saw this on a forthcoming list (Doctorow or Scalzi?):

Leap: Telepathy has been banned and the government controls the Internet

Knock: Living above ground has been banned and the government controls windows.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2011-05-19 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I gotta say, I would be tempted by this dystopia, as I sit here worrying about my minor headache and scratching my mosquito bites!

Glow: Migraines have been banned and the government controls insects.

[identity profile] janni.livejournal.com 2011-05-20 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
Attack: Television has been banned and the government controls children.

I've read more than one dystopia in which television is mandatory and the government uses it to control children.

[identity profile] movingfinger.livejournal.com 2011-05-19 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)

Shut: Volcanoes have been banned and the government controls icebergs. It begins with a captain of industry in an airship-field. This person meets a scruffy person and together they encounter a recently returned explorer and candy. The story winds up in deepest Peru and features having a child. The overall narrative is a picaresque novel.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2011-05-19 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee! XD

[identity profile] daidoji-gisei.livejournal.com 2011-05-19 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
This is so funny. I humbly nominate editing, crochet, Wonder Bread, and webinars to be banned. The government can control hip-hop, sale of aluminum foil, hang-gliding, and chickens.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2011-05-19 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I am right there with you when it comes to webinars!

Added, thanks!

[identity profile] movingfinger.livejournal.com 2011-05-20 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Please add PowerPoint presentations, if we're going after true scourges...

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2011-05-20 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Done! :D

[identity profile] movingfinger.livejournal.com 2011-05-20 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, good ones, brb gonna call an agent now:

Sway: Privately owned vehicles have been banned and the government controls sidewalks.

Major: Editing has been banned and the government controls language.

Wave: Long hair has been banned and the government controls swimsuits.

Shock: Death has been banned and the government controls chocolate.

Snap: Books have been banned and the government controls coeduation. [Oh Snap indeed. Also, typo in coeducation there]

Design: Coffee has been banned and the government controls office supplies. [This one might be a screwball comedy---something is innately funny about an ad agency with no coffee and with strict office supply control.]

...It's really sad how many of these actually sound like viable proposals. Really, really sad.

[identity profile] pseudo_tsuga.livejournal.com 2011-05-24 11:43 am (UTC)(link)
Shut: Teenagers have been banned and the government controls crime.

Oh my! Do they shut all the teenagers inside and then train them to be burglars for the oppressive order? The Mafia on a governmental scale?
