Come join us at random_dystopia for a multi-fandom/original fiction comment fic/art/vid/poetry/whatever meme based on the output from the excellent YA Distopia Story Generator. Some example prompts are: Knock: News has been banned and the government controls bringing horses inside a house; Light: Showering in the nude has been banned and the government controls knitting. We also welcome original dystopia concepts! All genres, pairings, fandoms and kinks are welcome!
Shut: Volcanoes have been banned and the government controls icebergs. It begins with a captain of industry in an airship-field. This person meets a scruffy person and together they encounter a recently returned explorer and candy. The story winds up in deepest Peru and features having a child. The overall narrative is a picaresque novel.
This is so funny. I humbly nominate editing, crochet, Wonder Bread, and webinars to be banned. The government can control hip-hop, sale of aluminum foil, hang-gliding, and chickens.
Sway: Privately owned vehicles have been banned and the government controls sidewalks.
Major: Editing has been banned and the government controls language.
Wave: Long hair has been banned and the government controls swimsuits.
Shock: Death has been banned and the government controls chocolate.
Snap: Books have been banned and the government controls coeduation. [Oh Snap indeed. Also, typo in coeducation there]
Design: Coffee has been banned and the government controls office supplies. [This one might be a screwball comedy---something is innately funny about an ad agency with no coffee and with strict office supply control.]
...It's really sad how many of these actually sound like viable proposals. Really, really sad.

That one works together unusually well. ;)
ETA: This one too:
Attack: Pants have been banned and the government controls teen angst.

There's just something about this one:
Click: The name Steve has been banned and the government controls the Internet.
It's some sort of dystopia in which Microsoft has taken over the world and banned all references to Apple products.
You got it

(Which of course is begging for an anime in which a girl is set on practicing martial arts in a skirt ...)

I kind of think this would actually make a pretty good YA dystopia novel. Someone write it!
Girl: Chocolate has been banned and the government controls skirts.
OH NOES WHAT WILL TEH WIMMINZ DO WITHOUT SKIRTS OR CHOCOLATE?!

Twirl: Stainless steel has been banned and the government controls propeller beanies.

Rise: Nudity has been banned and the government controls the media.
Oh, wait, that one's not that farfetched...

I see some sort of televised-game related story here...

...Perhaps quite the apropos title there...

Pinch: Prom has been banned and the government controls gender.
Girl: Hope has been banned and the government controls reproduction.
Live: Denim has been banned and the government controls lace.
Maximize teen angst with:
Ouch: Anime has been banned and the government controls career options.
and
Swell: Teenage girls having sex has been banned and the government controls fanfic

Vibrate: BDSM has been banned and the government controls banana slugs.

Tremble: Cloth has been banned and the government controls gatherings of more than six unrelated people.
Hitch: Body hair has been banned and the government controls weight.

In the "good luck with that" section:
Shoot: Cats have been banned and the government controls teenagers.
Attack: Television has been banned and the government controls children.
Guess: Teenage girls having sex has been banned and the government controls migraines.
I think I saw this on a forthcoming list (Doctorow or Scalzi?):
Leap: Telepathy has been banned and the government controls the Internet
Knock: Living above ground has been banned and the government controls windows.

Glow: Migraines have been banned and the government controls insects.

I've read more than one dystopia in which television is mandatory and the government uses it to control children.

Oh my! Do they shut all the teenagers inside and then train them to be burglars for the oppressive order? The Mafia on a governmental scale?
