And...

...to continue from my last post: Mercedes Lackey should never attempt dialect.

Frankly there are a lot of things Mercedes Lackey should never attempt.

That being said, I enjoyed her in my teenage years, so...

Yeah, same. She was rather inspirational to me during adolescence, and was very supportive of nurturing aspiring writers through the fan club. ...and then the books just got too ridiculous to ignore. That, and/or I had read enough to garner a better basis for comparison.

Mercedes Lackey should never attempt dialectwriting.

Fixed ;)

So true. But it's probably better than the lonnnnnnng multi-chapter explanation of a day she has been doing even since that owl book.

I am told she is a very nice person. Because of this I wasn't going to say what longshot beat me to.>_< But hey, since it's out there: WHY is she such a freaking fantasy icon? *shudders at the memory of a Cat Story*

Personal connections to other authors, her (good) treatment of fans, vast output, formerly much better output, the fact that she wrote about sympathetic gay teenage characters at a time when they were rare in fantasy literature, etc.

Plus she's a master of teenage idfic twaddle that I couldn't get enough of once upon a time.
