Joe Abercrombie's _Best Served Cold_. A woman out for vengeance and for once it's NOT a rape-and-revenge story!

Only partway through it right now, but so far recommended for those who thought the Black Company series wasn't quite dark enough.

I really enjoyed that book. It wasn't perfect and I had quibbles but no book is perfect & I always have quibbles, but I did like it!

I loved that book until about 40% in. For me, it went way downhill from there, then compounded it by ending in a way I found quite unlikely.
