On my birthday, I had the GREATEST SHOPPING LUCK! I went out to get a couple of pairs of pajama pants, as it's getting cold enough that I need them more. At Lane Bryant, they not only had a buy one-get-one deal going on the pajamas, but I found a nightshirt for half off, and they had a buy-two-get-two on bras, which I also needed. And then I went to Catherines because at the moment they're the only ones selling tights for fat chicks that aren't Spanx*, and not only got two at a buy-one-get-one-at-half-off sale, but I found a pair of earrings and a necklace I liked, also on sale, and as I was walking out the door I spotted a display table of accessories that included an AWESOME BLACK CLOCHE HAT that was on sale for $8.80!



Which came in quite handy today, as I skipped washing my hair to save time. :D





* Girdles are back! I don't care how sassy a name they try to give them, they're girdles! GAH!

OMG lovely hat! It's just right on you, truly charming!

You must see if you can carry off a looong necklace, or perhaps a gauzy scarf with a little beading wrapped round your neck and trailing...

It has been chilly here too, flannel sheet weather.

Thank you! Hmmm, the longest necklace I have is made of large chunks of artificial amber, but isn't really loooong enough.

Although it's not particularly gauzy, I do have a scarf woven from bamboo yarn by my mom which reaches down to my knees because she misjudged the length. XD (She calls it the Star Trek/Star Wars scarf because she can't remember which science fiction show is which and never manages to remember Doctor Who.)

I actually wore it today, but took it off as it was warm in my office and I wanted it off my neck.

Loooong fake pearls are good for this, but should e long enough that you can tie them in a knot and still have a loooong necklace!

Thanks for letting me know about Catherine's and tights. I confused a Lane Bryant employee last weekend by going on at her about how I am morally opposed to Spanx. I mean, really, "Spanx"? I don't need to be spanked by my clothing. I realy don't need to pay $40 a pair for tights I can't bike in, that are viciously uncomfortable, and are meant to punish me for being fat. Like a little overpriced lycra is going to make me look not fat. Argh.

Target's 1X/2X size $5 tights are actually a pretty good fit for me at size 22. They are low-rise cut, which causes me some gripe, but I am 5'10" and long waisted. And hey! Five buckaroos.

You have to be careful when poking through the tights at Catherines as the control top ones are different from the regular only by the words "Control Top", which are really easy to miss, as I learned earlier when I brought some home.

I'll have to see if Target tights work for me - $5 sounds like a great price! :) I usually have to wear a size higher than the chart on the back says, as I carry most of my weight in my hips and thighs. Quite often I have to argue with clerks who insist I'm buying them too big. :P

I'm a size 20 and wearing some Target 1X/2X tights right now. I'm actually surprised at how well they fit. I've tried a few colors and generally they're not the most opaque if that's something you look for- the charcoal gray pair I have is much more so than the green and purple ones I've gotten.

That hat is so cuuute. Lane Bryant is so frustrating, 'cause I love their clothes and am not quite big enough, and really don't want to get that big, lol.
