Kazuya Minekura is out of surgery, and notes she received thousands of paper cranes. There's a shout-out link to
cranes4minekura in the article. :) (ETA: Apparently this post on her blog mentions the cranes? Anyone who can read Japanese willing to give the gist of the crane part? ETA2:
devikun obliged in the comments over on LJ. Thank you!)

I should warn that she gets pretty detailed in describing what's going on, and her condition's pretty unpleasant. Please be cautious reading if you think it might upset you.

"Every day they brought in to the hospital a steady stream of gifts from friends and family, my hospital room had 10000 paper cranes...no, tens of thousands of cranes filled the room, the doctors and nurses said it was the first time they seen so many. After the surgery when it was so painful that I wanted to scream, looking at the colourful support surrounding me in my room really encouraged me. I'm told that the surgical scar is very fine, I think that's all thanks to the mountain of protective charms I received. To everyone who supported me from afar, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am very grateful."
